"And again...5, 6, 7, 8."

Take a peek behind the stage curtain of 'A Night of Musicals 2024!'

With only 3 weeks to go until the performance, rehearsals for ‘A Night of Musicals 2024’ have been in full swing and the show is really shaping up to be a night to remember.

Over 30 members of Probus Parish Players are preparing to take to the stage at the Burrell Theatre, Truro on 13th July for our second performance of ‘A Night of Musicals.’ We were overwhelmed by the response to last year’s performance and the cast couldn’t wait to do it all again this summer. The show is an amalgamation of songs from a multitude of West End and Broadway musicals, spread across all genres, so we are guaranteed to include some of your favourites.

When asked how the rehearsal process has been going, Director and Choreographer Shannon Wignall had this to say:

"I have been delighted with the work ethic and determination of this cast who have come to every rehearsal ready to give 110%. Over the last few years of working with PPP, I have really pushed the boundaries of their dance capability and this show is no different.

Every time that I worry I may have pushed it too far, they continue to surprise me and their talent is growing year on year. We are not professionals; but the talented individuals among our group deserve to be given the opportunity to shine and that is my main reason for putting on this performance again this year. We embrace all ages and abilities and believe that whether it is your first or your one hundred and first time on stage, if you are enjoying yourself, the audience will enjoy it too.

The variety of performances within this show is what makes it so special; we will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. We have several group numbers, as well as some poignant solos and duets, which will leave you astounded. I am in awe of the talent among the PPP family and can’t wait to share the stage with them."

As a society, we are best known for our annual pantomimes; but a deep rooted love of musical theatre flows through our cast and ‘A Night of Musicals’ is the best way to celebrate that. From Grease to Bugsy Malone, Hairspray to Moulin Rouge, Frozen to Oliver, this really is a show like no other.

If you would like to join us on 13th July, tickets are available here.
